I'M A GUEST AT VULPES LIBRIS - FIERAMENTE IL LIBRO, A LITERARY EVENT IN MY HOMETOWN

I'm guestposting at a wonderful book blog today, Vulpes Libris, for a project near and dear to my heart, Fieramente il Libro.  Join me there and  help me make this dream come true...
Books and writers have always fascinated me since I was a child, as soon as I could read
and write. My love for books found its expression both in my profession and in my free time activities, as I am an English teacher in Italy and a blogger, enthusiastically ready to spread my love for reading and books.
Fieramente il libro is a literary festival in its fourth year in my home town, Subiaco, 72 km from Rome. This is the place where St Benedict began to found monasteries after a period of hermitage and where the first book was printed in Italy. The setting for the festival is the Borgias’ fortress, where some historians believe that Cardinal Rodrigo’s children, Cesare and Lucrezia, were born.

FIERAMENTE IL LIBRO - BOOKS & WRITERS, A LITERARY FESTIVAL IN MY HOMETOWN

Books and writers have always fascinated me since I was a child, as soon as I could  read and write. These days I'm experiencing a full immersion of meetings with writers and discussions  of  books which makes me proud and happy.  The atmosphere is rather familiar and intimate, the location stunning and the people I met interesting or even inspiring. Nothing of the speculation over literature, culture and publishing we see in other literary festivals.

Fieramente il libro is an event at its second edition in my home town, among the organizers two dear friends of mine, whom I must thank for the energy and the enthusiasm they put in everything they do  and, of course, for inviting me to be part of the event as a member of the reading jury. I've read the 3  books finalists in the Narrative section and tomorrow I'll have to choose the one I liked best.

Yesterday TrainDogs and Fabio Palombo gave start to a weekend of special encounters: beautiful words and awesome music in a show called, Abracadabra. Fabio Palombo read his stories of men and women in little less than 11 lines, which he used to post on facebook at firsr. They are an extraordinary example of how words can do magic.

MY BOOKS & MUSIC SATURDAY

My love for books is known beyond borders, since I've been blogging in English for a while now and I have been sharing my passion with readers living in so many different contries.
What has happened is that in the last years,  I've read many books,  but not so many in my native language, which is Italian. That's a pity,  of course,  but as we usually complains in the book blogosphere, "so many books, so little time!"
Today has been pretty special as for books & me and the outcome is ... there are a few Italian books I am going to read soon.
I'll be in the panel of reading judges in a literary contest, we are 29 and have the task to choose the winner in the fiction section. I'll have to read 3 novels, debut releases by new authors for important  Italian publishers. The event, Fieramente il Libro is at its second edition here in my town and I'm flattered and honoured to be involved. It'll take place on 27/28/29 June 2014. I can't wait! I'll keep you informed, of course, and I'll start reading soon.
