I couldn't find a specific date, except 'Autumn 2011' (in the uk) but good news, I found an ITV press release announcing that

"ITV and Carnival Films today announced the return of the acclaimed drama series, Downton Abbey, for Christmas 2011. The Christmas special will continue where the second series, an eight-part run scheduled for autumn 2011, ends."

So, probably 9 episodes to watch! yay!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5114395886235179043.post-56703059830909418722011-05-21T18:18:26.073+02:002011-05-21T18:18:26.073+02:00@Calexora

Thanks for providing background on the authoress.

I agree with everything you described of the production and cast. Since I didn't know the story, I was shocked about the frankness in the 'coming together' of Sarah and Robert (although agree that it was predictable from the first moment they interact on screen) and also the outcome of their story. I was also hoping for more. Three episodes was just not enough! I'll happily watch it again though. And as for Anna - she will always be first and foremost Bessie to me :)

As for whether it's better than Downton Abbey - the way I see is that they are such different styles that I can love them equally for different reasons :) I'm definitely looking forward to series 2 of DA. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5114395886235179043.post-35201615514334369072011-05-21T10:06:36.919+02:002011-05-21T10:06:36.919+02:00@K/V
Well, AMM in North and South as Bessie, yes,...@K/V
Well, AMM in North and South as Bessie, yes, of course. And Morissey in Our Mutual Friend or The Other Boleyn Girl. And if you want, Penelope Wilton in Downton Abbey. But, as usual, I'm always more focused on my own reaction to the story than to the details about cast, setting, locations - which you can find following the links to Imdb :P
I just mentioned the roles in which I most appreciated them. Maybe I didn't watch HER enough in N&S?

Have a nice w-e,you too! I liked it, but as usual I didn't like that much the way it had been changed and reduced to fit a (too short) tv series. In the book there are many more social themes that haven't been included in Andrew Davies' script to make it more palatable to the audience.
I'm glad you liked what you've watched, though. Sometimes I realize I shouldn't read the novels beforehand: in most cases I'd avoid being disapppointed, but I just can't help it :-/
OTOH, I agree with you: the actors were all very good. I expected you'd mention AMM's performance as Bessie Higgins in N&S though ;)
Have a nice w-e,
xx K/VAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
