of Arc—who against all odds defied the mighty British invasion to defend her
beloved kingdom.

About the book
When the British Empire sets its sights on India in the
mid-nineteenth century, it expects a quick and easy conquest. India is
fractured and divided into kingdoms, each independent and wary of one another,
seemingly no match for the might of the English. But when they arrive in the
Kingdom of Jhansi, the British army is met with a surprising challenge.
Instead of surrendering, Queen Lakshmi raises two armies—one
male and one female—and rides into battle, determined to protect her country
and her people. Although her soldiers may not appear at first to be formidable
against superior British weaponry and training, Lakshmi refuses to back down
from the empire determined to take away the land she loves.

In reading about this heroine, I was reminded of Boudicca, another woman warrior who defended her country. I've never heard of this woman but am anxious to know more. Thanks for the giveaway.
the character sounds interesting
because the main character seems like an intriguing character
It is nice to read stories about real events even if it has to be stretched to move entertaining. Women need to be fighters always and lead the people. Sometimes the past seems better then our times but its not really just reads better in romance
I read Michelle Moran's Nerftiti a few years back and it was awesome. So informative and such an entertaining tale. So , I have high expectations for this book.
I've never heard of Queen Lakshmi so am interested in reading about her. I am also curious how India could have a woman head of state and still become a nation where women have fewer rights than men. Looking forward to learning more about this period!
My expectations for Rebel Queen are very high because I loved Michelle Moran's other books, especially Nefertiti.
I have loved all of Michelle's other book and expect nothing less from this one. This story is set in a time period and region I know nothing about so I look forward to learning lots of new things.
